Sweet & Tangy Chops

That spicy slightly peppery taste? That’s the allspice at work in this delicious pork chop dish with its creative blend of fruits, berries, barbecue sauce and garlic. Team it up with a side of plain rice or pasta for another chance to enjoy the juices.

Serves: 6
Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Smithfield Product: Fresh Pork

Ingredients

  • 6 Smithfield Boneless Pork Chops 3/4-inch thick
  • 2 T. vegetable oil
  • 1 can (16 ounce) sliced peaches drained
  • 1/2 c. apricot or raspberry preserves
  • 1/4 c. western-style barbecue sauce
  • 1 T. finely shredded orange peel
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. ground allspice
  • 1/2 t. minced garlic
  • 1/4 t. pepper

Steps

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brush chops lightly with oil and brown on each side; remove from pan. Add all remaining ingredients to skillet; stir to blend and bring to boiling. Return chops to skillet. Cover tightly; cook over low heat for 5 to 6 minutes until chops are just done.

Serving Suggestions

Serve with rice or couscous and a fresh green salad.
