Grilled Banana Caramel Berry Sundaes

A decadent dessert easy to prepare and easy to please!

Serves: 4
Cook Time: 5 Minutes

Smithfield Product: None

Ingredients

  • 4 firm ripe bananas, ends and peels removed and cut in half lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup prepared caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream for garnish

Steps

Prepare grill until hot. Brush banana slices with melted butter and place butter side down on the hottest part of the grill. Be ready to remove the bananas with a spatula as they cook in just one minute.

In a medium saucepan combine berries, sugar, cornstarch and water. Cook mixture over low heat until sauce has reduced and is slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

To assemble: Divide grilled bananas between 4 decorative bowls. Top with one scoop of ice cream. Spoon on caramel sauce and warm mixed berry sauce. Garnish with freshly whipped cream and a sprig of mint.

Love this sauce over any ice cream. Grilled my bananas inside in my grill pan. Taste was great.
