Fresh Lemonade

When you are hot and thirsty, nothing chills like cool, tangy sweet lemonade!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 additional cups of cold water
  • 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves (optional)

Steps

Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a simmer in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves. Let cool. Pour into a pitcher and stir in lemon juice. Add 4 cups cold water; cover and refrigerate. For minty lemonade, add mint leaves to the sugar mixture in saucepan. Strain before using.
