Cook Time: 50 Minutes
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Prepare an 8" x 8" square baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Arrange 4 waffles in the bottom and sprinkle with half the sausage and half the cheese. Repeat layer with remaining waffles, sausage, and cheese. In a medium bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, syrup, salt and pepper. Pour the egg mixture over the waffles layers. Cover with plastic wrap and set a weight on top. Refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until the edges are puffy. Remove from oven, cool 5 minutes and serve.
Serve with a side of fruit and glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Very good breakfast casserole. To improve I would add some onion, green onion, scallion or leek and possibly some crumbled crispy bacon. You could also use frozen french toast in place of the waffle. Easy and it works great made the evening before you want to serve.
