OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE IN PROMOTION

1. No Purchase Necessary

A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. NON-PURCHASE ENTRIES AND PURCHASE ENTRIES HAVE AN EQUAL CHANCE OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. To enter the Smithfield/Safeway Paula Deen Sweepstakes (the "Sweepstakes"), each entrant must be a legal resident of the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) residing in a state that corresponds with a participating Safeway Inc. Division, as defined below. To be eligible, entrants must also be eighteen (18) years of age or older, or the age of majority in the state in which they reside, as of November 2, 2011.

2. To Enter:

Simply use your Safeway Club Card, VonsClub, ValuePlus, Fresh Values Card, Randalls Remarkable Card, Tom Thumb Reward Card, CarrsPlus Club Card or Genuardi's Club Card ("Club Card") when you purchase any participating Smithfield products (in a single transaction) at a participating Safeway, Pak'n Save, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Dominick's, Carrs, Eagle or Genuardi's store (or online at an associated website: www.safeway.com, www.vons.com, www.pavilions.com or www.genuardis.com) in one of the above Divisions during regular store hours, from November 2, 2011 through November 30, 2011. Your entry is automatic. If you do not have a Club Card you may apply for a free card at the Customer Service Desk at any participating store. If you do not have your Club Card with you, you may use your home telephone number to enter. For such entrants, the entry will be made to the primary cardholder of the Club Card number within the user's household associated by the common phone number in Safeway's system. Neither Safeway Inc. or The Smithfield Packing Company Incorporated ("Sponsors"), their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agencies, suppliers nor any of their respective partners, (collectively, the "Sponsor Affiliates") are responsible for electronic network, scanner or computer hardware or software malfunction and/or transmission failure, loss, delayed or corrupted data transmissions, or any technical or human failures, errors or difficulties of any kind. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by your online service will apply if entering online.

3. Alternate Entry Method (Mail-in):

If you do not wish to make a purchase, you may also enter the Sweepstakes by hand printing your name, Club Card number (optional), age, complete address, including zip code and day time telephone number on a plain three inch (3") by five inch (5") card and mailing your entry in a stamped envelope to: Smithfield/Paula Deen Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 375, Severna Park, MD 21146. Mail-in entries are limited to one (1) entry per envelope. Each entry must be hand-printed, postmarked by November 30, 2011 and received by December 8, 2011. Neither the Sponsors nor the Sponsor Affiliates are responsible for lost, late, damaged, delayed, destroyed, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, mutilated entries or postage due mail. Photocopies, mechanically reproduced, forged or altered mailed entries and facsimiles are void. Incomplete or illegible entries are not eligible. Mail-in envelopes larger than a number ten (#10) envelope will be automatically disqualified. All entries become the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned.

4. Sweepstakes Prizes:

9 Grand Prizes: Winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries. There will be one Grand Prize winner for each Safeway Participating Division listed above, for a total of 9 Grand Prize Winners. Each Grand Prize Winner will receive two (2) tickets to attend the Paula Deen LIVE Event to be held on February 3rd, 2012 in Sacramento, CA; round-trip air for two (2) from the closest commercial airport to Winner's residence to Sacramento, CA and hotel accommodations for two (2) nights (double occupancy). Travel arrangements must be made through Sponsor and blackout dates may apply. (ARV: $1,500 per Grand Prize).

The Sponsors reserve the right to substitute the prize with one of comparable or greater value if the prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason.

First Prizes – NorCal Division Only – There will be 100 Local/Divisional First Prize Winners randomly selected from all entries received from Safeway stores in California. Each will receive two (2) tickets to the Paula Deen Event on February 3rd, 2012 in Sacramento, CA. (ARV: $40 per First Prize). Transportation is not included with this prize.

5. Winners:

Winners will be selected in random drawings from the pool of eligible entrants from each of the Participating Divisions, on or about December 15, 2011. Drawing will be conducted by Creative Incentive Group, an independent judging organization, whose decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible automatic, online and mail-in entries received per Participating Division. Winners must comply with all Sweepstakes rules as published. Potential Grand Prize and First Prize winners will be notified by phone and/or UPS and will be required to complete, sign and return, a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability and, where legal, Publicity Release. Potential Grand Prize and First Prize winners are required to return the documents within fourteen (14) days from the postmark date on the prize notification letter. Failure to comply with these requirements or return of prize notification or any prize as undeliverable will result in forfeiture of prize, with an alternate winner selected. Limit one (1) prize per person/family/household. Winners are responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes.

6. Conditions of Participation:

THE FOLLOWING TERMS & CONDITIONS APPLY: Grand Prize winners and respective travel companions must travel together on the same itinerary, including the same departure date, destination and return date, and must have valid travel documents (i.e., valid photo ID) prior to departure. If a winner is unable to travel by/on date indicated for prize chosen, prize will be forfeited. Flight schedules are subject to change without notice. Once travel commences, no stopovers are permitted; if stopover occurs, full fare will be charged from stopover point for the remaining segments, including return, of the trip. The Sponsors and the Sponsor Affiliates are not liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence of flight cancellation/delay. Winners' travel companions (or parent/legal guardian if a travel companion is a minor in his/her state of residence) must execute a Release of Liability/Publicity Release (except where prohibited by law) prior to departure. Either the winners or the winners' travel companions must be of the legal age of majority at time of travel. Winners and travel companions are solely responsible for obtaining valid U.S. I.D. and any other required travel documents or requirements, failure to do so will result in forfeiture of prize. Certain restrictions and blackout dates may apply. Seat selection and timing of trip subject to availability and confirmation of reservations. Trip may not be combined with any other offer and travel may not qualify for frequent flyer miles. In the event an event is cancelled or postponed due to circumstances beyond Sponsors' control, Sponsors reserve the right to offer a prize of equal or greater value. All incidentals, meals, beverages, gratuities, travel expenses, taxes, ground transportation and other expenses not specifically set forth herein are the responsibility of the winners. Winners are solely responsible for any local, state or federal taxes resulting from winning and accepting a prize. Neither the Sponsors nor the Sponsor Affiliates assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information including, but not limited to, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost/delayed/garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of: any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. In the event this Sweepstakes is compromised or becomes technically corrupted in any way, electronically or otherwise, the Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, terminate or suspend the automatic or online portion(s) of the Sweepstakes and in such event to select winners by random drawing from among all valid automatic or online entries received up to such time of cancellation, termination or suspension and all eligible mailed entries received. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges. All aspects of the prizes are NON-TRANSFERABLE and no substitutions are allowed except at the Sponsors’ sole discretion. No cash equivalent or exchange of prize is permitted (except at the Sponsors' sole discretion).

7. Eligibility:

The Sweepstakes is only open to legal residents of the U.S., residing in a Participating Safeway Inc. Division, as defined in Section 1. To be eligible, entrants must also be eighteen (18) years of age or older, or the age of majority in the state in which they reside, as of November 2, 2011. Employees of the Sponsors, the Sponsor Affiliates or any of the members of their immediate family (defined as spouse, mother, father, in-laws, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children and grandchildren) or same household of each are not eligible to participate. Safeway Inc. "secret shoppers" are eligible for Card based consumer sweepstakes, but not for Card based employee sweepstakes. This Sweepstakes is void in FL, NY and where prohibited or restricted by law and is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

Entrants, by their participation, and winners, in accepting their prizes, agree to indemnify and hold harmless and waive any and all claims of liability of any kind whatsoever against the Sponsors and/or the Sponsor Affiliates including, but not limited to, damages, claims or causes of action of any kind whatsoever (however named or described) for injuries, loss or damage to person(s), including death, and property, or rights of publicity or privacy, defamation, or portrayal in a false light which may arise with respect to participation in the Sweepstakes and/or the acceptance, possession, use/misuse of any prize(s), and/or participation in any Sweepstakes related activity. By accepting a prize, winners grant permission for Sponsors and those acting under Sponsors' authority, to use his/her name and likeness for advertising, trade and publicity purposes, world wide, including on the Internet, at any time or times without prior notification, review, or approval or further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Neither the Sponsors nor the Sponsor Affiliates make any warranty (except those included with any vehicle prizes), representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the use of any prize including, without limitation, quality, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose. Further the Sponsors and Sponsor Affiliates shall accept no responsibility for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of any government or authority.

All actions arising pursuant to this Sweepstakes will be brought in the federal and state courts residing in California, and this Sweepstakes will be governed, in all respects by the internal laws of the State of California without regard to its conflict of law rules.
