I don't know why but my finished product was "sweaty" and cake oozed out of small holes in the coating. Other recipes did not tell you to refrigerate after coating. I think I will try that next time. They were yummy, though!

I think homemade frosting sounds like a delicious idea. I don't think it would change the recipe at all.

I'm not a fan of store-bought frosting. Can this be done with homemade frosting as well?

My neighbor made these this weekend and they were AWESOME! She did a coconut cake mix with vanilla icing and then dipped them in either white or milk chocolate. They were so good. The chocolate covered ones tasted like a Mounds bar!

I can't rate this recipe yet because I haven't tried it, but it LOOKS great, and I'm very anxious to try it. I was wondering if this dipping chocolate is the same as say, the semi-sweet baking chocolate squares? If it "handles" the same, a trick I have recently learned is to dip the chocolate dipped balls into a bowl of ice water to set the chocolate. It immediately starts to harden so that when you place the balls on the wax paper, they don't go flat on the bottom.
