Serves: 4 to 6 appetizer
Cook Time: 8 Minutes
Ingredients
-
4 Smithfield Smoked Sausage Links or Smithfield Smoked Sausage with Cheese Links
-
1/2 cup Creole mustard or other spicy mustard
-
1/2 cup honey
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 cup yellow cornmeal
-
1/4 cup granulated sugar
-
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
-
2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
-
1 cup milk
-
1 large egg
Steps
Cut each sausage link crosswise into three even pieces and set aside.
In small bowl, whisk together Creole mustard and honey. This is the Spicy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce. Set aside until serving.
Preheat deep fryer to 350 degrees F. In large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and Creole seasoning. In small bowl, whisk together milk and eggs. Add to flour mixture, mixing until smooth and blended. Insert a popsicle stick or wooden skewer into each piece of sausage. Dip sausage into batter until well coated, letting excess drip off.
