Egg Nog French Toast

Egg Nog French Toast

There are so many recipes that hold yummy Christmas memories for me... Grandma's spritz cookies, Mom's crackled toffee, our favorite chocolate fudgies... but the one that i can't stop thinking about this year is Egg Nog French Toast! In my opinion, it's the most delicious way to dip your french toast. When I open up the carton of egg nog, it smells just like Christmas.

Egg Nog French Toast

  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup egg nog
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 8 slices of day-old bread, better if slightly stale
  • butter and maple syrup for topping

Instructions

Beat eggs, egg nog, and spices together. Whisk until well blended and pour into a shallow bowl. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing bread to soak up some of the mixture. Melt some butter over a large skillet on medium high heat. Add slices of bread to the skillet as they will fit. Cook until golden brown on both sides, flipping as necessary. Serve immediately with butter, maple syrup, and a bit of crispy bacon!

This could just be the perfect Christmas morning breakfast!
