Whimsical Stars and Stripes Tablescape

Display your patriotism with pure Americana: stars and stripes and homemade ice cream cones!

1. Cover your table with the blue tablecloth. Place the runner down the center of the table; or fold the fabric into a runner, and place it on the table.
2. Using the blue construction paper and scissors, cut out 3 large stars and as many small stars as there are place settings. Arrange the large stars on the table runner, spacing them evenly. Place the cone-shaped glasses on the large stars.
   
3. Trim the flower stems to 1 1/2- to 2-inches long. Working with one at a time, place a foam ball on top of a waffle cone, pressing it down gently to fit into the rim of the cone. Holding the ball onto the waffle cone with one hand, insert the stems of the mums into the ball, covering the ball until the mum-covered balls rest on the waffle cone rim. Insert a red mum in the top to form the “cherry” on top. Place the cones in the cone-shaped glasses.
4. Set the table with the plates. Place a small star on top of each plate.
5. Tie ribbon bows on the plastic spoons, and write the names of guests on the spoons. Arrange on the small star-lined plates.
   
6. Place a red plastic cup at each place setting, and fill them with the pinwheels, forks, and knives.

• 3 red mums
• 3 round foam balls, 2 1/2- to 3 inches in diameter
• Red plastic cups and utensils
• 4th of July pinwheels
• Red and white-striped ribbon
• White plates
