A Fresh Take on Herbs

Potted Herb Tablescape

Fill tiny, weathered clay pots with young herb plants and keep them watered on your table until it’s time to transfer them outside.

  1. Cover your table with a tablecloth.
  2. Arrange the runner on table, or create your own runner by folding and pressing fabric into a runner; lay the runner down the center of the table.
  3. Place a glass cake pedestal in the center of the table runner. Plant the herbs into the clay pots, and arrange them attractively on the pedestal. Reserve 4 of the potted herb plants to place at each place setting.
  4. Fit the candles into the assorted green and taupe drinking glasses, and arrange them on the table runner on either side of the cake pedestal.
  5. Set out the place settings with the copper chargers, the dinner plates, the napkins, the salad plates, and the basket-lined drinking glasses. Place a potted herb plant on top of each salad plate.
